House Mizzrym
History
Founded relatively recently compared to other drow noble houses in -643 DR[4], House Mizzrym's rise to power over the centuries was founded on trade, including with non-drow races. By 1357 DR, the House had cultivated clandestine trade deals with deep gnomes and garnered a great deal of wealth. This allowed it to rise to the position of seventh house of Menzoberranzan.
In 1359 DR, House Mizzrym moved up to sixth house when House Oblodra was destroyed during the Time of Troubles by House Baenre. During the Silence of Lolth (1372 DR-1373 DR), House Mizzrym climbed the ranks once again to fifth house thanks to the treachery and fall of House Agrach Dyrr. In 1484 DR, House Mizzrym ascended to the fourth house after the departure of House Xorlarrin for Q'Xorlarrin, replacing House Faen Tlabbar.

Nobles -
Matron Mother Miz'ri Mizzrym, Female Drow High Priestess of Lolth (Trickery Domain)
Description: Tall for a drow the matron has a comley figure accented by meticulously crafted and stylized clothing and jewelry. She has long silver hair typically extravagantly braided, and she has piercing crimson eyes. She wears a crown of black adamantite and her clothing features symbols of Lolth and of house Mizzrym and is interspersed with pieces of armor designed specifically for her. She is known to have many powerfully enchanted items on her person at all times, including a particularly viscious scourge of fangs. When dressed for battle she wears a meticulously crafted adamantine breastplate and matching shield and wields a powerfully enchanted Mace and her scourge of fangs.
Demeanor: Matron Miz'ri is calm and collected, rarely giving in to emotional outbursts. Her actions tend to be well reasoned out, and she has a habit of explaining her actions as she is taking them. Male drow of the house can expect a more lenient attitude from Matron Miz'ri relative to how males in other houses are treated. However, Matron Miz'ri brooks neither insolence, nor fools and deals harshly with those who succeed in angering her. Matron Miz'ri wears a perpetual snarl and has a commanding voice, which combined with her regal appearance and height makes her a very intimidating presence.
Nizana Mizzrym, Sister of the Matron, Female Drow High Priestess (Trickery Domain)
Description: Nizana is half a head shorter than the Matron, but makes up for it by having comparatively broad shoulders and heavily muscled arms and legs. She is no great beauty, keeping her hair cut short and her faminine charms covered. She escews jewelry and decorative elements in favor of pure utility, and the only thing remotely resembling jewelry is her finely crafted and bejeweled holy symbol of Lolth. Nizana is rarely seen out of arms and armor and is typically garbed in meticulously crafted, but plain half plate, shield, and spear. She carries a scourge of fangs, but uses it solely for dealing out punishment.
Demeanor: Nizana is the opposite of her sister, the Matron. She is unforgiving and cruel. Punishment is meted immediately and harshley and for menial offenses. She is quick to anger, often needing to be restrained by her sisters from going overboard. She is fanatically devoted to Lolth, slipping in religious phrases and frequently asserting things as “Lolth's Will”.
Sinafae Mizzrym, Sister of the Matron, Female High Priestess of Lolth (Trickery Domain)
Description: Sinafae oozes sensuality. Of average height but voluptuous build, she moves lithely and with extreme grace. She has long white hair seemingly always perfectly coiffed and accentuated with elegant jewelry and expertly applied makeup. Her eyes sparkle violet, a trait that out of her siblings only she has. She is typically clad in meticulously crafted and decorated robes which show just enough skin and roundness to get most men (and some women's) blood pumping. She typically carries a finely crafted kriss-bladed dagger and seemingly little else for defense. When dressed for battle she wears a finely crafted and richly decorated breastplate, and augments this with a buckler and rapier.
Demeanor: Sinafae is always playful, bordering on naughty and she uses her charms rather than her station to entice people rather than command them. Those that have been around her long enough however realize that despite her playful ways she is just as cunning as her elder sisters, and just as deadly when crossed.
Talice Mizzrym, Daughter of the Matron, Female Drow High Priestess of Lolth (Trickery Domain), Mistress of Arach-Tinilith
Description: Is of average height and build. She is classically attractive, but does little to attempt to enhance her appearance. She wears robes of station appropriate to one of the Mistresses of Arach-Tinilith, with functional, finely crafted mail underneath. She wears a beautiful and ancient holy symbol of Lolth around her neck. She carries a scourge of whips at her side, along with a well crafted mace.
Demeanor: Talice is stern, a necessity of her position as High Priestess and and Mistress of Arach-Tinilith, but she does not necessarily delight in causing pain an anguish and would instead prefer to resort to other forms of correction. Of all of the noble females of the house she is the one least frequently seen at the Mizzrym compound and it shows as she is often uninformed of house goings on.
Kiaran Mizzrym, Daughter of the Matron, Female Drow Paladin of Lolth (Oath of Vengeance)
Description: Tall, broad shouldered and muscular with a warriors build. She is typically seen wearing a full suit of plate armor, heavily engraved with symbols dedicated to Llolth and house Mizzrym. She has short clipped silver hair and wears a circlet on her head. She always carries an unnaturally keen longsword and shield.
Demeanor: Kiaran is fanatically loyal to Lolth first. She sees herself as the living embodiment of Lolth vengeance, which she delights in meting out at the tip of her sword. She is stern and unforgiving and always seems to be silently judging those around her. She rarely speaks, unless it is to lecture others on their shortgivings. Her personality often clashes with that of her mother and aunt Sinafae, and seems to take most to her aunt Nizana.
Faeryl Mizzrym, Daughter of Nizana Mizzrym, Female Drow Priestess of Lolth (Trickery Domain)
Description: Is a juvenile drow, currenlty in her training as a priestess of Lolth at Arach-Tinilith. She appears to be developing her aunt Sinafae's good looks and curvy figure. She keeps her hair meticulously styled and wears the robes of an Acolyte, but with the filligree and decorations appropriate to a member of one of the ruling houses of Menzoberranzan.
Demeanor: Faeryl's demeanor changes from day to day, as a juvenile she is frequently emotional and given to outbursts, and despite her rigid and harsh training she still frequently acts immature. On other occasions however she is the spitting image of a Priestess of Lolth, harsh, ruthless and cruel.
Alystrin Mizzrym, Daughter of Sinafae Mizzrym, Female Drow Wizard (Evoker)
Description: Short and slender with a head full of long white hair and large, expressive eyes. She is attractive and always seems to have a whimsical laugh on her lips. She dresses in brightly colored robes of various shades of blue and green that leave little to the imagination. She is often seen with crackling energy dancing over her fingertips.
Demeanor: Young and given to whimsey she escews the religious trappings of the priesthood of Lolth, paying lip service to her worship. Her youthful exuberance and passion makes it difficult for people to dislike her or stay mad at her, particularly when she gives the puppy dog eyes and pouts. She delights in indulging her every impulse and loves using her magic for destructive purposes - with a particular fascination with electricity based magics.
Jalynfein Melarn, Patron, Male Drow Fighter (Eldritch Knight)
Description: Tall for a drow male, with broad shoulders. He has a rugged, distinguished look. He wears well tailored clothes designed to accentuate his build in an elegant, understated way without impeding his movement. He wears his hair long and slicked back, and is one of the few drow to sport facial hair in the form of neatly trimmed sideburns. Even when not in battle he wears a chain shirt under his clothes and has his weapon at his side. In battle he wears a finely crafted suit of scale mail and wields a longsword in one hand, with his other hand frequently crackeling with eldtrich energies.
Demeanor: Jalynfein is reserved and quiet. He understands that as house patron in most cases his role is to be seen and not heard. Due to his age and experience he knows how to navigate the political games played by female drow without stepping into the pitfalls so common in drow society. He is a fatherly type for males of the house, and is always willing to provide sincere advice – provided the time and place are appropriate.
Filraen Mizzrym, House Wizard, Brother of Matron Miz'ri Mizzrym, Male Drow Wizard (Abjuration)
Description: Filraen is a classically handsome drow male, tall and slender with almond shaped crimson eyes. He has many of the same facial features of his mother, most notably her long silver hair, which he keeps pulled back into a tight ponytail. He wears robes of his station and is typically seen seen bearing an enchanted staff and has several Ioun Stones floating about him. He is also frequently accompanied by his familiar, a nasty little Imp with a foul temper that delights in torture.
Demeanor: To most Filraen is haughty and arrogant, his demeanor seemingly borne of competence combined with the blessings of his station. Underneath that arrogance however it seems that Filraen has a bit of a paranoid streak, tinged with envy. He is always weary of people's “angle” and is very secretive in many ways. It seems growing up in the shadow of the great Phauron has done much to undermine confidence, which he tries to make up for with bluster.
Malagar Mizzrym, House Weapons Master, Son of Miz'ri Mizzrym, Male Drow Fighter (Battlemaster)
Description: Malagar is tall with a fencers build – powerful forearms, shoulders and legs. He has white hair, which he keeps short enough to keep out of his eyes. He is always ready for battle and is typically clad in a finely crafted adamantine breastplate and carries at his side a long sword and numerous daggers, which he uses both in his offhand and as throwing weapons. He has a pronounced scar that runs vertically from his forehead down across his right eye and down through his cheek on to his jaw.
Demeanor: Malagar is confident in his abilities. He has a quick mind for analyzing tactical situations. He has learned his limits the hard way and as such favors a pragmatic approach to combat. He is able to effectively utilize all the forces at his disposal rather than favoring one particular set of troops or skills over another. This causes him to speak with conviction when he speaks on matters he is familiar with, and cautious on matters he is not. As the house weapons master he maintains strict discipline and a warrior serving under Malagar that is insubordinate is in effect signing his own death certificate.
Nalros Mizzrym, Master of Shadows, Son of Sinafae Mizzrym, Male Drow Rogue (Master Mind)
Description: Nalros is of average height, he shares his mother Sinafae's good looks and sense of fashion, dressing immeaculately if somewhat flamboyantly. He has long white hair, which keeps loosely tied back in a pony tail. Keeneyed observes will note however that despite his blase attitude he maintains several concealed weapons on him at all times. In combat Nalros is rarely seen. He will wear black, loose fitting clothes that seem to swallow him up whole. He prefers the use of the rapier, but is an opportunist, utilizing many different weapons as appropriate to the situation.
Demeanor: Nalros is social and likeable. He has a keen intelligence and rapier like wit, with which he skewers those around him – some in jest and some in earnest, making comments that cut to the bone. As Master of Shadows people know him to be an acquirer of secrets on both friend and foes, and so smart drow are always somewhat leery when dealing with him, but due to his immense charisma most find themselves telling Nalros things they didn't mean to let slip.
Nimruil Mizzrym, Son of Miz'ri Mizzrym, Male Drow Rogue (Swashbuckler)
Description: Nimruil is of average height, with a slender build. He moves with feline grace and balance. He wears loose fitting flamboyant clothes over a finely fitted shirt of mail. His hair is wellkept and typically kept covered by a feathered slouch cap. He always carries his rapier and offhand short sword. He is reknowned for his accuracy with the hand crossbow.
Demeanor: Nimruil possesses rakish good charm and wit. He is easily likeable and appears somewhat carefree. He is also noted for not having much of a personal agenda, instead enjoying his life and the benefits of his station. However; like most drow he is still a killer at heart and if someone offends him they may quickly find themselves skewered by his rapier.
Balok Mizzrym, Son of Sinafae Mizzrym, Master of Sorcere, Male Drow Wizard (Conjurer)
Description: For a drow Balok is short and stocky, barely taller than the average dwarf. He wears large and elaborate clothing and headdresses to make himself appear taller and more intimidating. He is often attended by hordes of small summoned beasts and apprentices, all of which fawn over him. He carries several wands at the ready at all times. When preparing for combat this is augmented by a magical staff and various trinkets.
Demeanor: Balok is overbearing and loud. He is boisterous and seeks to intimidate those around him when possible. Whether he became a conjurer due to his personality or if becoming a conjurer shaped his personality, it is clear that he is used to being obaying him immediately and without question - this is a trait carried over to his position as one of the masters of Sorcere.
Elendar Nitarim, Consort of Nizana Mizzrym, Male Drow Warlock (Great Old One Patron, Pact of the Tome)
Description: Elendar is tall and thin to the point of gauntness. He has long, stringy hair that he keeps slicked back and hangs free down to his lower back. His eyes have an odd penetrating stare to them and his gaze is disconcerting. He has a strange, otherworldly presence about him and it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what it is that does not seem quite right. His clothing choices run towards the overly proper and "stuffy" and he always seems to carry a silver baton/walking stick, and carries a tome on a chain worn about his waist.
Demeanor: Elendar is a sycophant, working hard to ingratiate himself to everyone of station. Conversely he, treats those below him with disdain, seeing them as little more than tools or stepping stones. Those that possess social acumen can tell that his strangeness if offputting to most, except it seems Nizana Mizzrym, who seems to enjoy his company for some reason.
Commoners-
Nyloth Hunzrin, Captain of the Guard, Male Drow Fighter (Champion)
Description: Nyloth is of average height but heavily muscled build. He is heavily scarred from decades of fighting for house Mizzrym. Most notably he is missing one of his eyes, which he keeps covered with a magically enchanted eyepatch. He wears a suit of meticulously crafted plate armor and carries a halberd and heavy crossbow at his side. He has closely shorn white hair.
Demeanor: Obedient and efficient, Nyloth rarely speaks unless spoken to. He is fanatically loyal to his house and willingly puts his life on the line in order to further its goals, and would be willing to die to defend it. When dealing with his soldiers he is accurate, brief and concise.
Imbros Naerth, Master of Lore, Male Drow Wizard (Diviner)
Description: Imbros is tall and thin. His appearance is remarkably unremarkable. He wears austere, non-descript clothing approrpriate to his station, and he tends to "blend" very easily into the background. He carries a slender adamantine shod staff and has been known to carry a crystal ball in a pouch on his belt.
Demeanor: Imbros does not have much in the way of personality. He is very cool and matter of fact in almost all matters, and seems somewhat perplexed by nuances of drow social conventions. This may come as a side effect of his training as Lore Keeper, as he was taught from a young age that opinions do not matter when it comes to facts. He has the amazing ability to recall immediately any number of facts on obscure matters, and he has in effect become a walking library.
Duagloth Zauviir, Master Craftsman, Male Drow Wizard (Enchanter)
Description: For a wizard Duagloth has an impressive physique. He is broad shouldered and well muscled, traits he acquired from decades of perfecting his armor and weaponsmithing skills. He is frequently seen wearing a smithing apron, and is rarely seen without the tools of his trade. This clashes with this keen intellect and vast knowledge of practical enchantment magics and magical theory.
Demeanor: Friendly and approachable Duagloth is a people pleaser who will go out of his way to try to accomodate all comers. As a middle aged Drow Duagloth has of course learned to be a realist and understand his limitations when it comes to how much he can do without the Matron's blessing. He knows that he is an invaluable asset to house Mizzrym and has learned how to leverage that without overstepping his boundaries. He is much liked by the apprentices and slaves that assist him in the forge, as he has used his influence to ensure their comfort, correctly surmizing that wellfed and welltreated smiths are more productive.
Nimruil Ulovae, Master of Beasts, Male Drow Ranger (Beastmaster)
Description: Nimruil is stocky and muscular, he is perpetually clad in various exotic furs and leathers. He has mid-length shaggy hair and generally has the appearance of wild outlander. He is frequently accompanied by various tamed beasts. He carries a bow and scimitar at all times.
Demeanor: Nimruil is quiet, finding more kinship with the beasts he has tamed than with the people he serves. Demeanor is that of a caged beast, frequently pacing about, eyes darting about looking for unseen threats and occasionally stopping and freezing in his tracks to listen and taste the air.
Kyorlin Nirinath, Master of Slaves, Male Drow Ranger (Hunter)
Description: Kyorlin is tall and muscular. He wears revealing clothes that show off his impressive physique. He has a shaved head and a perpetual snarl on his face. Kyorlin is often seen with a whip or scourge at his side, but when ready for battle or on the hunt for runaway slaves carries a flail, shield and shortbow.
Demeanor: Kyorlin has little patience for others. He will grudgingly do as told by those above his station and demands absolute obedience from those below him. He is a bit of a sadist, enjoying inflicting punishment on his slaves and hunting down runaways.
Pharius Ssambra, Master of Coin, Male Drow Rogue (Arcane Trickster)
Description: Pharius of average height and somewhat portly build. He wears outfits that are well tailored and suitable to a man of his station and he is richly adorned with bejewled rings and necklaces. He carries a bejeweled short sword at his side, which by all appearances is likely more decorative than functional. He is frequently attended by various slaves or "advisors" who act as his translator when dealing abroad - translators he does not reality often need.
Demeanor: Pharius is polite and cordial without being too forthcoming. He is the consumate businessman, playing his cards close to his chest, but always willing to make trades and work out a deal. He has a great deal of patience and foresight and can be quite calculating and ruthless when it comes to matters of business.
Jhaldrym Filifar, Master of Alchemy, Male Drow Wizard (Transmuter)
Description: Jhaldrym is ancient, his eyes have dulled to a sickly yellow, his hair has become tinged with copper, his frame is bent and his face lined with wrinkles. He wears old robes, stained and singed by various alchemical concoctions. He always appears to be fiddling with some component or another and despite his age rarely sits still for long. He does not appear to carry any sort of weapons, only a utility knife, but the various vials he carries could carry any number of dangerous contents.
Demeanor: Jhaldrym seems somewhat touched, he is frequently lost in his own thoughts and rambles on at great length if not kept on task. With that being said however, Jhaldrym does not appear to be in any way meanspirited or spiteful and several drow, even those of higher station, have taken to calling him "uncle" or "elder". Jhaldrym seems to have the unique ability to always have the right brew or ointment onhand as neded, and delights in helping those who have treated him well. He appears to have some sort of unique insight or foresight and wise drow have learned to accept any help he offers, as he will suggest certain potions or conncoctions that appear to be unrelated to the matter at hand, but somehow always wind up making things much easier. He keeps all manner of riff-raff in his laboratory to assist with his concoctions and experiments.
